Installing the Sandbox

Before you install the Sandbox make sure that you’ve already installed:

  1. Create an empty folder on your computer.

  2. Extract the Vagrantfile from the downloaded zip file and save it to the empty folder you just created.

  3. Open up a terminal window or command prompt and change directory to the folder you just created.

  4. Enter the command vagrant up.

The installation process will take a few minutes, as shown in the following screenshot:

  1. Connect to the VirtualBox using the command vagrant ssh.
Note: For Windows installation use Putty to connect to the VirtualBox, using

the settings shown in the following screenshot:

  2. When the installation is complete change directory to the sandbox folder using the command cd /opt/sandbox/.

  3. Start the Alfresco server using the command ./ start.

The application URLs are displayed in the command line and you can now sign in using demo as the username and alfresco password.

[See table below for application URLs and login details]

Note: You can close the Alfresco server down using the command ./ stop, and you can stop the vagrant box using the command vagrant halt.

To restart the server then start again from the step where you entered the command vagrant up.

When you’ve finished your trial you can remove the virtual box by running the following commands in the same folder as the Vagrantfile:

    • vagrant destroy -f

    • vagrant box remove alfresco/sandbox -f
