Thank you for your answer.

Yes, I know I can map any directory, my question was regarding which directories should be externalized in order for the solr data to be persisted. Is the data directory enough to be mapped (and thus backed up)? Or should I also map (back up) any other directory (such as the contentstore)? What kind of data is saved in there?
