Hello,
I use an Alfresco Share version based on Alfresco Community v4.2.0. It stands on our own servers.
I've noticed that Share doesn't exist anymore and was replaced by ADF (Alfresco Application Development Framework).
My questions are simple :
1/ Is it possible to upgrade being still using our datas (files store by Alfresco interface) ?
2/ How to upgrade using ADF instead Share ?
3/ Does ADF exist in free "Community" version ?
4/ Maybe a tuto ?
Thanks
Solved! Go to Solution.
1/ Yes, only the UI changes (you might need to develop your custom components as you did in Share)
2/ Configure your ADF to connect to your Existing Alfresco instance - Creating your first ADF app - Alfresco Builder Network
3/ Yes GitHub - Alfresco/alfresco-content-app: Alfresco Content Application
4/ Alfresco Content App - tutorial on extending ACA

Thank you very much Abbas :-))
I want to correct one misunderstanding in the original post. The answer given and accepted is perfectly fine. I just want to note that Alfresco Share still exists in Alfresco 6.1. It has not been replaced by ADF, and due to very different architectures / features focuses (development framework vs. ready-to-use product UI), it can never "replace" Share, i.e. fill the same use cases. The sample application (Alfresco Content Application) built based on ADF can replace aspects of Share, mostly around the core feature set related to pure document management, but there are no plans to address any of the collaboration feature sets that Share has to offer.
@afaust So, Share will not be removed in coming releases too? What about its support (from alfresco)
So at the last DevCon, the CEO of Alfresco publicly stated that Alfresco would support Share through to 2021 (if I remember correctly, might also have been 2022). There still has not been any reliable information on an actual date / version in which Alfresco will stop providing Share.
In short: It's a confusing mess with little reliable information to guide users / customers. Since ADF or ACA do not cut it for any of my customers, I am still doing regular projects based on Share, even on the newest 6.1 version. There simply are just too many features missing from ADF / ACA, and my customers are not willing to pay me to fix the holes in Alfresco's new, in-development frameworks, when Share already provides the features they need.
What @afaust describes is correct!
Share continue to exist as content only application and all the Alfresco enhancements in terms of UI are mainly on ADF.
The message never changed since the latest DevCon.
In the new DevCon (May 2020) we will have a live update, but this is still valid.
Cheers.
