CIFS in linux

I am on a linux box, I installed alfresco, what i would like to do, it's to have my contents on a directory when they are approved. Because in this state they can be taken by other application and processed. So I thought CIFS could be a solution, to mount alfresco repository as a Samba mounted directory.  Is it a good strategy?
In this way i am experiencing problems, in particular I had to write a domain in file-server.xml, domain = "MYDOMAIN", but this domain doesn't exist in my network. So when I try to test CIFS with smbclient -L localhost ,
I received a password to insert, if I press 'return' i received, session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE.  And I cannot access it by windows xp workstation, it connects and asking me authentication, I digit admin admin but nothing even several times, it shows me the same authentication pop-up.
Probably because it is trying to authenticate me to a domani which doesn't exist? How can I solve this problem, I would like only a mounted directory, in which I can access alfresco content from another application.

Thanks in advance,
