Assocations across diff stores possible?

Question asked by timster on Apr 6, 2006
I can see from the Javadocs that creating a parent-child association between two nodes residing in two different stores are not possible.

But I cannot find any word either way whether creating a normal assocation type on two nodes in different stores is possible.   I did a little test, and got a ServiceException saying that this was not possible.

Looking in the database, I see that the protocol and identifier is stored for both source and target references, so it would seem to me that it is being considered, but not possible at the moment?

FOLLOWUP QUESTION: If creating an association between nodes in different stores are not possible, then how does Alfresco suggest creating relationships between something, like a folder, and a user, as to indicate that this folder is the personal folder of this user, for example?
