partable

Question asked by omegerard on Apr 25, 2006
Use case:

We produce monthly progress reports for our customers. Some of these reports refer to addenda, i.e. documents with more details. The latter can be anything: xls files, jpg, doc … How can I tie up report and addenda?

Possible solution:

I was investigating the contentModel.xml file to find a clue as to how to deal with that issue and I found the aspect "partable". While I suspect that this aspect was created for other purposes (compount documents - dita), I wonder if it can also be used to the use case I have described.

<aspect name="cm:partable">
         <title>Partable</title>
         <associations>
            <association name="cm:parts">
               <source>
                  <role>cm:partOf</role>
                  <mandatory>false</mandatory>
                  <many>true</many>
               </source>
               <target>
                  <class>cm:content</class>
                  <role>cm:hasPart</role>
                  <mandatory>false</mandatory>
                  <many>true</many>
               </target>
            </association>
         </associations>
      </aspect>

If it cannot be used for that purpose, what else can be used?

Any pointers?

Regards

Ludo
