StarOffice UnoConnection Error.

Question asked by elam on May 1, 2006
Hi All,

I'm running JBoss 4.0.4 CR2, JBoss Portal 2.2, and I've copied the alfrescoe.war and conf/alfrescoe directories into my existing Jboss Installation as well as replaced the MyFaces jar files as per the Wiki.

I've also followed the instructions here: for running OpenOffice, with the exception that my server has an XFree server running, so I didn't do any of the virtual frame buffer stuff, and left out the -display switch when starting OO from the command line:
./soffice "-accept=socket,host=localhost,port=8100;urp;StarOffice.ServiceManager" -nologo -headless &

So, I fire up JBoss and the tail end of the logs say this:

02:26:48,634 ERROR [STDERR] May 1, 2006 2:26:47 AM net.sf.joott.uno.UnoConnection connect
INFO: connecting using "socket,host=localhost,port=8100,tcpNoDelay=1"…
02:26:49,579 ERROR [STDERR] May 1, 2006 2:26:49 AM net.sf.joott.uno.UnoConnection connect
INFO: connected
02:26:49,699 ERROR [STDERR] May 1, 2006 2:26:49 AM net.sf.joott.uno.UnoConnection connect
INFO: connecting using "socket,host=localhost,port=8100,tcpNoDelay=1"…
02:26:49,721 ERROR [STDERR] May 1, 2006 2:26:49 AM net.sf.joott.uno.UnoConnection connect
INFO: connected

So I'm connecting, but then everything stops.  JBoss never finishes booting up and if I do a shutdown with ctrl-c, if never shuts down completely either.  I have to kill the process.

Anyone have a clue to what's going on?  And is it possible to start alfresco without OO running?

Cheers,
-Elam
