running alfresco as a non-root user

Question asked by ilja on Sep 6, 2006
Hi,

I installed a standard alfresco configuration on a debian linux 3.1 system. Whenever I run the alfresco.sh script as superuser, there is no problem.

i chowned the /opt/alfresco and de /srv to user alfresco.

For security reason i want to create an alfresco user with limited permissions on my server and run it with that user. I got it running and can use the web interface without a problem.

However, the samba server is not available when it's running as user alfresco. The only error message i get is

catalina.out:16:20:49,642 ERROR [alfresco.smb.protocol] Failed to get local domain/workgroup name, using default of WORKGROUP

but i also get this when running the server as root
