Server setup/Partition

Question asked by jbdev on Nov 9, 2006
I was wondering what setup/partitions some people with some experience with Alfresco are using? What has been some of the drawbacks with your current setup? Backup and restore options?

I am setting a new dell 2950  which was bought just for alfresco and I plan to use CentOS 4 with plenty of room.

I have tested Alfresco on some development systems, both the installer package and deployment on existing tomcat installations, but I am still trying to figure out what will be the optimal partition setup.

Example from another server:
Filesystem            Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda6             2.0G  368M  1.6G  20% /
/dev/sda1              99M   22M   72M  24% /boot
/dev/mapper/mysql-data
                      591G  2.6G  559G   1% /data
none                  2.0G     0  2.0G   0% /dev/shm
/dev/sda2             9.9G   55M  9.3G   1% /home
/dev/sda7            1012M  859M  102M  90% /tmp
/dev/sda5             6.5G  937M  5.2G  16% /usr
/dev/sda3             6.5G  273M  5.9G   5% /var

Using /data I can have Mysql and Alfresco on one partition to worry about for backups/restoration. Has anyone used something similar with success?

Any insight/tips would be appreciated.
