Default install configuring to MySQL

Question asked by danderson on Feb 13, 2007
System Linux (Ubuntu 6.10)
Alfresco Stack Installer for Linux AlfrescoCommunity-1.4-Linux-x86-install
MySQL 5.0.24a-Debian

I was running the Stack Installer of Alfresco without any problems. I was then asked to try and set it up to use MySQL rather than the default database that comes with the stack installer. Since I already had MySQL installed, I followed the instructions given in the README_mysql.txt:

I logged in as root
ran mysql -u root -p <db_setup.sql

The alfresco database & the users were created without error.
Then I configured tomcat by simply removing the 3 files (as instructed)
- custom-db-and-data-context.xml
- custom-db-connection.properties
- custom-hibernate-dialect.properties

restarted the computer then I restarted Alfresco. I know it is now communicating with MySQL as the alfresco database was populated with tables and such. But any time I try to connect to the web client, I am now getting:

HTTP Status 404 - /alfresco/faces/jsp/browse/browse.jsp
type Status report
message /alfresco/faces/jsp/browse/browse.jsp
description The requested resource (/alfresco/faces/jsp/browse/browse.jsp) is not available.
Apache Tomcat/5.5.12

Any help with this matter is greatly appreciated. I found one similar post that suggested checking the /etc/hosts entry - which I did, mine contains the localhost entry, and when I browse to the server on my local computer, I use the following http://10.206.201.52:8080/alfresco or http://localhost:8080/alfresco

the end results for both is the same.
