Adding a new mimetype - clarification

Question asked by vcardoso on May 29, 2007
Hi all,

I've read this post ( on how to add a mimetype. It seems a little out-dated and confusing, tho.

Using Alfresco 2.0, I updated the mimetypes-extension.xml.sample file in tomcat\shared\classes\alfresco\extension to add my custom mimetype, and I  removed the .sample extension and restarted alfresco. I'm assuming that I also need to remove the .sample extension from mimetype-map-extension.xml.

Can someone explain what the mimetype-map-extension.xml file is? Is it simply instructing alfresco to look at the mimetypes-extension.xml file?
