Routing content to different content stores (new in 2.1?)

Question asked by theorbix on Jul 6, 2007

In the "What's new in 2.1" documentation I found the following sentence:

Support added for routing of content to different content stores based on the content's context

It seems that the feature has been added in between 2.0 and 2.1, but I haven't found any specific documentation.

Can someone shed some light on how this feature works?

Does this mean that it is possible to define - for each unique Alfresco content repository - different content stores (for instance one for Office documents, another for large multimedia objects, another for emails) and "map" each of them using the Content Type attribute (or some other type of content qualification attribute)?

Is there some documentation on how this can be done?
