Node associations - working copy of documents

Question asked by jamen on Jul 10, 2007

I'm currently doing some requirement gathering for a XML editing process where the documents have references to external attachments (images).  Aside from having these url's in the content, I want to be define through meta-data/associations a relationship between the attachments (stored in the repository) and the document itself.

There is a separate lifecycle associated with the document and the attachments.  I want to find out what the implication of forming an association between the XML document (node) and a working copy (checked out) version of an image/attachment.

When a working copy of an attachment is checked in (where it is versionable), is the node for new version of the attachment the working copy meaning the associations are still valid?
