Slow Alfresco server.

I have Alfresco installed on a ProLiant DL360 G3 2.8Ghz/3GB RAM with Alfresco-Community-2.1R1-Linux-x86-Install.
First of all, it takes more than 9 min to start Alfresco and when I tried to copy over my files it takes very long time. It goes much faster when I copy to another workstation then to Alfresco. I copy the files with Windows Explorer.
Have I setup the server configs wrong or do you think it is the server specs? Not a easy question for you to answere but I hope you will try.
