unable to start alfresco on my desktop

Question asked by nitinaggarwalin on Oct 22, 2007

I have been trying to install and start alfresco on my machine.

But unfortunately i have not been able to successfully start alfresco after having done everything from my side.

Kindly help me as it is very urgent for me.

The steps i followed are as under.
Installing Alfresco Enterprise 2.1 Enterprise edition

1.   Execute AlfrescoEnterprise-2.1.0-Setup.exe to install Alfresco ECM.

2.   Uncheck the download java and download open office components.

3.   Install Alfresco by going through all the steps till you click on finish.

4.   Configure the database to MySql while installing Alfresco ECM.

5.   Execute AlfrescoWCMEnterprise-2.1.0-Setup.exe to install Alfresco WCM.

6.   Go through all the steps and click on finish.

7.   Place the mysql-connector-java-5.0.7-bin.jar file inside <alfresco>/Tomcat/Server/Lib folder.

8.   Then go to <alfresco>/extras/databases/mysql folder from command line and run db_setup.bat. Enter the password and alfresco database is created if it doesn’t already exist.(Make sure the path to mysql home is set in the system path.)

9.   If an error message is generated then first execute db_remove.bat and then db_setup.bat.

10.   Try running alf_start.bat from command line to start Tomcat server.

11.   Then run virtual_start.bat to start the virtual server.

12.   If everything works properly then you will be able to access alfresco from the URL http://localhost:8080/alfresco

13.   Login as user : admin and password: admin.
