edit category gives un-expected behavior

Question asked by janvg on Feb 18, 2009
If we have a category list like this …

- environment
- energy
- elektricity

… and we use this list for several months,  and tag documents and spaces with these values. Suddenly someone finds out that  "elektricity" is not correctly spelled.

We go to the category management system and see the action : "edit category"

we select the category "elektricity" and change the value (edit) into the value : "electricity"

Next we cheque the tagged documents and we notice that no documents are tagged with the corrected category value !!

it seems that the action "edit category" deletes the category and creates a new one. This is completely different from what a user would expect from a "edit " action.

How can we really edit the value of a category without losing important data ?
