Alfresco vs AFS (Andrew File System, that is)

Hi all:

We're trying to figure out how Alfresco and AFS (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_File_System and http://openafs.org) compare and contrast.  I'm not really an expert in either system, but we're making an effort to roll out Alfresco at our university, and we're anticipating questions about how it's superior to/inferior to/different from the AFS system that some people are already using here.  (We've even been asked if Alfresco might be a viable replacement for AFS.)  So, is there anyone out there that knows both technologies well enough to provide a brief comparison of the two?

Thanks!
