Alfresco 3.4.d Internet URL/WAN ACCESS - How to?

Question asked by gtjmn on May 29, 2012
Hi all,

I've been searching and searching and can't seem to find any help on how to access my first alfresco installation externally (i.e. outside of my LAN).

I am using 3.4.d (this is to say I only have a 32bit Redhat EL box at home).

I have no problems accessing and using alfresco from within my 192.168.3.100 LAN network (alfresco installed with all default settings)
I have a fixed IP address - say, for this purpose its 81.7.77.177.
I have opened up all external ports to forward inbound 81.7.77.177 to 192.168.3.100.
From within my LAN, this link works fine:  http://192.168.3.100:8080/alfresco/faces/jsp/dashboards/container.jsp
from outside my LAN (that is from anywhere over the internet) I try http://81.7.77.177:8080/alfresco/faces/jsp/dashboards/container.jsp  -> and nothing!!!! It timesout!

Sorry, if I'm missing the simplest of configuration settings, but I just dont know what to do.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.
