Dual instances

Question asked by dgili on Jul 19, 2012
my company is running Alfresco Community 4.0.d and our repository is pretty big now in terms of number of documents and size (~100Gb).

We have customized a few things on our installation and from time to time, I need (and like) to remotely debug the system (instance is running on AWS).

But because of the size of the repository, I don't want to clone the repository filesystem. On the other hand, I don't want to setup breakpoints in Production and potentially stop what users are doing.

So, my question is if it's possible to run another instance of Alfresco (meaning a copy of tomcat directory, with exactly same alfresco and share webapps, running on a different port) but pointing to same filesystem (dir.root) and database (db.url/name). Is it safe? Would that cause any problems?
