Alfresco 3.3 on Win 2008 not able to start due to mysql

Question asked by eddie on Jul 16, 2010
Could not get Alfresco to start, the mysqld process shut itself down repeatedly. This was on a windows 2008 server.

Found out that the data repo for mysql (C:\Alfresco\alf_data\mysql) was not accessible for a standard user.

I received the following error in the mysql cmd window:

100716 14:04:25  InnoDB: Started; log sequence number 0 46409
100716 14:04:25 [ERROR] Event Scheduler: Failed to open table mysql.event
100716 14:04:25 [ERROR] Event Scheduler: Error while loading from disk.
100716 14:04:25 [Note] Event Scheduler: Purging the queue. 0 events
100716 14:04:25 [ERROR] Aborting

100716 14:04:25  InnoDB: Starting shutdown…
100716 14:04:26  InnoDB: Shutdown completed; log sequence number 0 46409
100716 14:04:26 [Warning] Forcing shutdown of 1 plugins
100716 14:04:26 [Note] C:\Alfresco\mysql\bin\mysqld: Shutdown complete

Solution was to give all permissions (check "Full Control") to USERS on alf_data dir. YMMV.

Hope this helps someone.
