ldap (ONLY) and Share - 3.3g

I've been doing lots of reading and working with Alfresco 3.3g

For http://<myserver>:8080/alfresco, everything works exactly as planned.  We're authenticating with LDAP, and synchronizings users and groups as well.

For http://<myserver>:8080/share, the LDAP authentication isn't working.

Obviously, a SSO solution would be great.  But everything I've read so far seems to indicate using the passthru subsystem, which tends to fail if it's using ldap instead of the desired AD.  Happily, we don't have any M$ products in our infrastructure, so AD isn't a viable option.

Can someone point me in the right direction to get the Share app working?  SSO would be great, but not totally needed.

Thanks!
