Alfresco 3.4c successfully installed on Linux with problems

Question asked by jlolling on Dec 27, 2010
The only way to install it successful is to change the user language to English and don't change any port within the installation.
The installer did not use the changed ports (e.g. the tomcat ports). I found the port 8080 e.g. in tomcat/webapps/alfresco/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/repository.properties but I chose the port 18080   (to avoid conflicts with other alrady running tomcats).
The next problem is, a lot of property-keys (keys should never be translated!) are also translated in the target language!
You can see a lot of strange messages in alfresco.log because a couple of config file couldn't be read or interpreted.
After the installation you can switch back to your native language and work with Alfresco. :D
