Mac install, automatically starting the server

Question asked by jjeffers on Mar 16, 2011
I've done a lot of searching for answers to these questions, but there doesn't seem to be much documentation on Mac installs. Please forgive me if I missed these somewhere.

1. Should I run the installer as root?  In other words, open a terminal and run sudo open alfresco-community-3.4.d-installer-osx.app
Or should I run it as the user I'm logged in as?

2. The server does not start up automatically after a reboot no matter how I install it.  Is there any documentation on having the server startup automatically, or do I have to login and run the startup script every time I reboot?

BTW, I'm installing on a Snow Leopard 10.6.6 server, Alfresco Community 3.4.d

Thank you!
