JVM memory settings tips for Alfresco

Question asked by bcsx on Aug 20, 2013
Hi.

I am using the following server with Alfresco 4.2.d installed and integrated with Active Directory and MySQL database: VMWare virtual machine, Debian 6.0.7 64 Bit, 4 CPUs, 4 GB of RAM.

The main usage is through CIFS and sometimes through Share by a maximum of 100 concurrent users.

At the moment I have these parameters for the Java Virtual Machine memory in the ctl.sh file:
export JAVA_OPTS="-XX:MaxPermSize=512m -XX:NewSize=512m -Xms2560m -Xmx2560m -Xss1024K …"

But I have found some errors in the logs and I have noticed that the free RAM is approximately 30MB.

total       used       free     shared    buffers     cached

Mem:          3967       3936         31          0         64        183

-/+ buffers/cache:       3688        279

Swap:          671        671          0

These JVM memory settings are correct or can be optimized?

Thanks.
