Alfresco on Server, suitable HW?

Question asked by luizaranha on Oct 20, 2013
Hi all,

As I am still on the the choose the appropriate HW for using alfresco, here is my edited szenario:
Now I am on the way using alfresco with a DELL Server with following features (where come up questions):
1st: OS: Windows Server 2012 Foundation: I Found the licensing of ms:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj679892.aspx
When using ca. 30 casual users, is Server foundation still enough (e.g. regarding SMB connections)

2nd: @30 casual users: Is a HDD speed of 7.5k rpm enough (or better 15 k) @cpu speed about 3 GHz
3rd: @30 casual users:  What is the appropriate RAM for a HDD with 7.5k rpm
3.a.) How much RAM to I have to put to the JAVA VM and how much on the OS (50 % JVM, 50 % OS @ 4 GB RAM ?? )
4.) Is it possible at all to run alfresco on windows server 2012 foundation? (shut be the first question  )
5.) I choosed a DELL Server (DELL PowerEdge™ T110 II, Intel® Core™ Processor i3-2120, 2C/4T, 3.30GHz, 3M Cache, 4GB Memory (1x4GB 1600MhzDual Ranked, 1TB, SATA, 3.5-in, 7.2K RPM Hard Drive, OS: windows server foundation. Is this a good choice for that?

I would appreciate your help, so that I can order this server and be sure, that alfresco works on that.

Thank you

Luiz
