Can't add user defined version numbers to documents - Alfresco community 5.2

Hi,

I am using Alfresco community 5.2. I need to know is it possible to add user defined version numbers to documents in alfresco.

It is not possible by default, but with custom (Java) implementation you can add functionality to pre-defined the initial version number of a document. There is also an addon listed on addon.alfresco.com that provides custom version numbering.
