I have a Windows 10 Professional system. I downloaded the Alfresco Community 5.2 installer.
This is the link I used Alfresco Community Edition | Alfresco
Two times I tried installing.
It keeps spinning at "Initializing the database" or something forever, one time even for more than 12 hours.
Has anyone else had the same issue?
Can someone guide me on how to install 5.2?
Solved! Go to Solution.
I tried installing in my development machine, where it was failing initially.
This time I tried to run the installation as an Administrator, and chose the advanced option in the installation, and left the install folder to the default folder. Everything worked great.
I do not know why the first two times, it was spinning for ever on the Initializing Database step.
Hi,
I had faced similar kind of issue and it took long time in that state but after long time i got a pop up with regedit error or Wndows error 10XX, dont remember though....
That time i just searched and found that some DLL file was interfering with the postgresql installation when alfresco was installed.
I searched and then had updated the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redestributable..." which somehow was updated due to some other software installation on my machine.
Just check your control panel if your above program has been updated recently - wither update or remove it and check it out. That program interferes with some DLL causing the installation issue.
Can you check that time the status of services.msc .
Wait till the time it gives pop up error. Hope it helps.
It worked when I ran the same installer in a different machine, but with three differences.
- Ran the installer as an administrator
- Took the advanced option to install, but chose all the defaults
I have not tried the same with the machine that it failed originally.
Good ! that you were able to kickstart by installing on a different machine.
But can you try with the same three things on your previous machine - mostly , by the resolution looks like some application /software is interfering with alfresco which could be a great find .
Also please wait for any pop up message of OS logs - if you can locate .
Thanks again!

Great that now it is resolved - Might have been some issue while installing DB on the port.Or some system issues.
Since we don't have any logs - its difficult to track back - the root cause earlier two times...
Thanks!
