I am currently trying to restore an older Alfresco system and could use some guidance.
I have a backup of the drive that contains a previous Alfresco environment, and I’ve successfully installed the same version of Alfresco (alfresco-community-installer-201707-linux-x64.bin) on a new server. The installation is up and running, but as expected, it's currently a clean install without any of the previous data.
My question is: Is it possible to restore the old Alfresco system using the backup of the drive from the previous installation? If so, could anyone provide advice on the steps I should follow to ensure the data and configurations are properly restored?
Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance.
Yes, You can restore.
Following point you need to keep in mind.
1) New alfresco have same configuration as old.(alfresco-global.properties)
2)You need to deploy customization if in old alfresco have
3)You need to restore alf_data and db to new alfresco.
Thank you for your response.
Unfortunately, it appears that the alfresco-global.properties file has been lost. Assuming there were no customizations made to the system, is it possible to extract the missing information from other sources within the backup to restore the system and proceed with the recovery?
Without customization you can start from Sanjay's step 3:
- stop clean alfresco
- replace alf_data/contentstore directory from your backup
- recover database from backup
- start alfresco with new database and new contentstore.
