Hello community
we are planning to use search services 2.0.
as of now we are using 1.4 Version. Also tried to search and compare but couldn't get conclusion where we should use 2.0
can someone help with the benefits of using search services 2.0 compared to 1.4
In these slides you'll find all the new features for Search Services 2.0:

Current version is 2.0.1 and it's compatible with Alfresco Community and Enterprise 6.2
In order to upgrade from Search Services 1.4 to Search Services 2.0 a full re-index for SOLR is required.
Thanks for the info @angelborroy , I gone through the docs. I see this line in the 2.0.0 notes:
"Reviewing your backup and restore procedures is required, as the folder $SOLR_HOME/contentstore is not created anymore" here
Does this mean that $SOLR_HOME/contentstore is no longer required and can be deleted after migration? I see on our 1.4 version we have $SOLR_HOME/contentstore and $SOLR_HOME/data folders created.
Is it like we need to back 1.4 and restore only data folder and configurations not the contentstore folder?
I also read new version 2.0.1 notes which looks good but want to understand this known issue meaning:
Known Issues given here
Is it a known issue from previous versions or it is expected from 2.0.1 onwards? What would be the impacts in terms of performance? Does this mean search will be slower?
Thnx for support.
I really appreciate if someone can clarify the doubts i requested above? If there is performance issue of some sort which is marked known in search service 2.0.1, we need to understand what is that. so we can decide to remain 1.4 version or move to next latest version. Not able to access this link https://alfresco.atlassian.net/browse/SEARCH-2548
We've identified some query performance issues in our testing environments when dealing with 50-100 millions of documents. We're still investigating this issue in order to diagnose the cause of the problem.
However, when working with hundreds of documents (instead of millions), the performance is comparable (and faster in same cases for 2.0.1).
I guess the decision is up to you, but deploying 2.0.1 in a testing environment and running some tests on it will help you to understand if that versions fits your requirements.
Hi @venur
As @angelborroy has written, there are circumstances where 2.0.1 performs worse than 1.4 when dealing with very large volumes (millions of documents) and this is being worked on as we speak.
For most community users, the performance is the same & so they could consider upgrading to 2.0.1
HTH
Thnx @angelborroy and @EddieMay for guidance and providing the details
