How to create API's in alfresco?Which tools or other software is required?

I have downloaded activiti community edition and I wanted to create API with Eclipse Java EE and I'm using PostgreSQL database connection. So how would I interface ?

Why you want to create apis in alfresco what is the exact requirement. Are you trying to customize alfresco API and use it or do you want to create you own apis.

not trying to customize api but i want for development part 

i need to create user authentication means someone click on users it should prompt login credentials to access so how can i manage to do
